There is no shortage of amazing things to photograph in Tropical North Queensland. Reef, rainforest, beaches, waterfalls, unique critters…..the list goes on and on. But if you really want to return triumphant with a handful of photos that will get your friends and family excited (and just a touch envious), then follow this list of suggestions….
1. The Great Barrier Reef
This of course is a no brainer. Everybody wants to take home a memory of the Great Barrier Reef, but if you want a shot that really counts remember it’s all in the angle. Will you take your best Great Barrier Reef photo from above, below or on the water?
No excuses! A shot from underneath the sea’s surface is a must. Take a GoPro, hire an underwater camera or even get a Pro-photographer to capture a photo of you below the waves.

2. The Rainforest
It may be shady and wet but the abundance of vegetation will make you spoilt for choice as far as photography goes.

3. The Waterfalls
There are so many to choose from but by far your best option is to hop in a car and take a drive. Don’t forget to pack your swimmers.

4. The Critters
There’s a few interesting animals in Tropical North Queensland that you won’t find anywhere else in the world. Make sure some of them make it into your photo album. If you can’t find any of these in the wild don’t despair, we have a great selection of wildlife habitats that can help you get up close and personal to capture your very own Hero Shot!
5. Lookouts & Scenic Spots
There are many scenic spots around Tropical North Queensland that are guaranteed to give you a grand view. Make sure you stop and take a few shots.
6. Cairns Esplanade
It’s only a few kilometres long but if you explore this strip of coastline with a camera you can expect to shoot some impressive images.

7. Beaches of the Tropical North
Tropical Palms, white sand and sparkling blue water. It may be a bit cliché for a tropical destination but it’s still worthy of a photograph to remind you for years to come why you visited Tropical North Queensland.

8. A Tropical Sunset or Sunrise
If you can’t drag yourself out of bed for a morning shot then at least make sure you’re outside with a camera as the sun sets in the Tropical North. Try these spots for the best captures.

9. Fun on the Water
There’s nothing we like better in TNQ than being wet. The closer you are to the water the cooler everything becomes. So remember to snap off a shot when you’re enjoying your favourite method of water play.
